Palmon Bay Hotel Guide

Palmon Bay Hotel & Spa

Herceg Novi’s Adriatic coast has never had to struggle to attract recreational visitors or health-conscious tourists. It has a little bit of everything: on the one side, the stunning Dinaric Alps towering high above handsome coastal villages, and on the other side the azure-colored Adriatic Sea.

Zoom in a bit to the border region between Montenegro and Croatia, and you’ll find a long, narrow inlet with steep cliffs, also known as the Bay of Kotor, just south of Dubrovnik. Right within that bay, wallowing in the gentle Mediterranean breeze sits a five-story modern building, engulfed by picturesque and towering palm trees.

The Hotel Facilities

There is a lot to like about this 4-star hotel: it is conveniently placed on the coastal promenade between Herceg Novi and Igalo, and, as a hotel guest, you have access to their private beach area and the vast outdoor swimming pool, and neither of them is too crowded.

The Herceg Novi Riviera gets lots of tourists in the summer season and it is hard to find free space at any of the public beaches during this time. Luckily, you don’t have to worry about that and can instead enjoy the beauty of Montenegro from the comfort of your sun lounger.

Prudently, the hotel architects went for a comforting brown and grey color palette, making the Palmon Bay fit comfortably on the coastal promenade without appearing too bulky. Palmon is the Latin word for ‘Lung’, and as a matter of fact, hotel guests have plenty of room to breathe.

Be it in the spacious Spa center, stretching over 500 square meters, outdoors at the beach club, pool deck, or on the gorgeous rooftop bar. You never get the feeling of being crowded, neither in the restaurants nor in the hallways, which is a testament to its great hotel design.

One of the hotel’s most notable features is the magnificent complimentary Spa which comes with a mineral water swimming pool that is way gentler on your skin and eyes than a regular one. Besides that, you can guiltlessly indulge in sauna, salt room, steam bath, and massage treats.

The Rooms & Suites

The 213 rooms and suites espouse roomy 21st-century minimalism, highly polished, and fitted with classy hardwood flooring and floor-to-ceiling windows. Not only does a lot of natural light find its way to your room this way, but you also get stunning views of the Bay of Kotor – if you book a room with a sea view, of course.

The contemporary bathrooms feature all modern amenities designed in soothing mud tones. If you are staying longer than just a few days, it would make sense to book a Deluxe or Superior Room instead of the not-so-roomy Standard Double Room.

Standard Double Room

Measuring 18 square meters and able to accommodate two guests on either a large double bed or two singles, the Standard Double Room is a good choice for budget-oriented and/or solo travelers.

Deluxe Room

The Deluxe Room either comes with a sea or garden view and has that little more space, making it pay a little more per night. It extends over an interior space of 25m2 and can host a third person.

Superior Room

The Superior Room is one step up from the Deluxe Room, measuring a commodious 40 square meters. It accommodates 2 adults and 2 children or 3 adults and 2 children.

Suite with Sea View

Suites come with a king-sized bedroom and a separate living room with a sofa bed. It is the perfect choice when traveling with a small family; the children can sleep in the living room and you can relax on the comfortable bed.

The Restaurants

One of the best things about staying in the Palmon Bay Hotel is that an excellent and varied breakfast is already included in your room rate. You can enjoy your morning meal in the main restaurant which is located on the ground floor. It also serves lunch and dinner.

But take the elevator up to the 5th floor and discover the Olive Terrace, a Mediterranean restaurant with panoramic views, dotted with olive trees and comfortable lounge chairs. Here, you will probably spend most of your evenings before taking a walk on the coastal promenade.

But don’t be misled by the relaxed vibes on this rooftop bar – their cuisine is more diverse than you might expect. Osso Buco Risotto is on the menu along with dozens of local and Mediterranean specialties, and always a good wine to match.

The Lemon Bar on the ground floor is the perfect place to recharge and have a coffee or tea while in between activities. The lush patio garden with its many subtropical plants makes it hard to get up, to the detriment of your partner who has asked you many times already to follow him to the beach.
