Miriste Beach Guide

Miriste Beach

Visiting Miriste Beach evokes feelings of those good old days and nostalgia when life was much slower and simpler. Healthy scents of ocean breeze and fresh pines are lying in the air, making Miriste Beach a place you will want to return to. This is the quintessential Mediterranean lifestyle in its purest form – without the ritzy elements.

Miriste Beach sits deep in a small and picturesque cove, hugged by beautiful rock formations and lush vegetation. From the beach, you can see a tiny island with a monastery, and further away Mamula Island, and the Croatian coastline. It is especially beautiful in the evening hours when the sun sets.

A Mid-19th-century Austro-Hungarian fortress off the coast of Herceg Novi, the 5-star Mamula Island Hotel has been turned into into a truly luxurious refuge.

Miriste Beach Lustica

Then, you will see sailboats and yachts dotted against the colorful background. Miriste Beach is such a place where you can spend quality time with your partner or children without being distracted by noise and crowds. The beach radiates an intimate feeling.

And even though the bay is popular with sailors and boaters, it is still one of the best places for swimming and snorkeling. There is much to see here, both above and below the water surface. The water quality is superb and on most days the water color resembles turquoise.

The beach itself is very narrow and small but extends over the cliffs in the form of concrete patios. Entry into the water is not exactly gentle – it goes much smoother with water shoes. Having them on also prevents you from stepping on one of the few sea urchins.

Onsite, you will find freshwater showers, changing cabins, and toilets. You can also rent sun loungers and parasols for 18€ the pair. Miriste Beach is backed by a cascading restaurant, serving good local Adriatic fare. You can’t go wrong with grilled fish or anything else that comes out of the sea.

Like octopus – octopus salad is superbly delicious at the Miriste restaurant and goes extremely well with one of their homemade white wines. The restaurant is tucked away between old and beautiful olive trees. From far away, you can hear the rhythmic chirping of the cicadas.

How to get there

Miriste Beach by Boat

You can access Miriste Beach either by boat or by car. Water taxis are available from Herceg Novi, Igalo, and Rose. You can also arrange a private boat transfer from other Bay of Kotor coastal towns.

The road leading up to the beach is narrow and easily gets clogged when there is traffic in both directions. From the roundabout close to Tivat Airport, you need to turn in the direction of Lustica Bay and then pass the villages of Radovici and Merdari. A taxi from Tivat or Kotor will be approximately 30 – 40€.
