Kotor Parking Guide
Like in many other cities and towns along the Adriatic Coast, finding a free parking spot in Kotor can be quite challenging. Since Kotor’s Old Town is completely pedestrianized, first-comers to Kotor often find themselves overwhelmed when forced to navigate around the center of town.
The huge inflow of travelers and residents gravitating towards the historical center in the summer months and looking for a parking spot, unfortunately, means that the number of available car parking spaces is always very limited. Almost all of the parking surrounding the old town is pay-only, except for motorcycles who can park for free adjacent to the Sea Gate.
Kotor Old Town

Kotor is the gem of Montenegro, rich in history, and surrounded by beautiful nature. Kotor has plenty to offer, from centuries-old churches to refined restaurants and shops.
Parking is charged hourly or daily and can be paid at the exit of the parking booth. When entering Kotor, you will see On-street displays indicating the available free spots in each parking lot. The five municipal parking lots for people staying in and around Kotor Old Town are the:
- Riva Parking Lot (96 parking spaces) – opposite the old town
- Benovo Parking Lot (155 spaces available) – adjacent to the Northern Gate
- Parking Puc
- Autoboka (200 spaces available) – single-day pass 15€
- Autoremont
These car parks are managed by the city itself and are relatively inexpensive at about 0,60 – 0,90€ per hour. There are also additional privately-run lots whose rates are a little higher on average. The parking lot in front of the Kamelija shopping center, close to the old town, offers parking at a rate of 2€ per hour (30€ per day). Parking is free if you buy something for at least 5€ in the shopping center and show your receipt.
Wherever you decide to station your car or camper, please make sure that you are following the parking rules as you might find your car towed, or getting a parking fine from Kotor’s hypervigilant traffic police.
Free Parking Kotor
You can also find free parking in Kotor. Most residential areas, in particular those further away from Kotor’s Old Town, have their unpaid parking lots. If you are visiting Kotor and do not intend to use your car daily, you might want to consider leaving your car there.

Parking Spaces for Buses and Coaches
If you are looking for coach parking in Kotor, the spacious Autoboka parking lot adjacent to the hospital, can accommodate up to 60 coaches and is not too far away from the old town. Neighboring Parking Puc has additional space for twenty coaches or buses. The parking charge is 10€ per hour or 60€ per day.
Parking Your Motorbike in Kotor
There is only one designated parking space for motorbikes and scooters on the Riva square in front of the Sea Gate, the main entrance to the old town. You can park your motorbike free of charge here. However, the parking lot can fill up quickly, especially during the peak season from June to September. You can then simply park your two-wheeler in one of the other parking lots.

The Sea Gate in Kotor is the main entrance to the old town and probably the most popular place to meet up with other people visiting Kotor.
Parking for Vans and 6-Seaters
The parking fee for vans and 6-passenger minivans is 1,50€ per hour at one of the five municipal parking lots mentioned above. The price for campervans or 12+1 minibusses is 3€ per hour. You are looking at 7€ per hour at the Kamelija shopping center’s parking lot for all van-like vehicles and minibusses.
Parking Tips & General Info
- Parking spaces marked with white lines and numbers require paying an hourly rate at the parking meter or via text message to the number indicated on the parking sign
- Campervans and 6-seaters pay a higher hourly parking fee (1,50 – 3,00€ per hour)
- If you plan to visit Kotor during the summer months from Perast, Herceg Novi, Tivat, and the small coastal settlements in between, consider taking the Blue Line Bus or a taxi
- Parking is generally not allowed in yellow-marked parking lots
- Anyone who does park outside of designated parking spaces, runs the risk of paying a fine or being towed away
- There is no underground car park in Kotor
- Expect to pay cash
- Parking fees are calculated per each hour started
