Almara Beach Club
In keeping with the Montenegrin easy-going coastal vibe, the atmosphere at the Almara Beach Club is always relaxed and cheerful, augmented by your choice of spritz or sundowner. Hovering above rugged limestone outcrops, with sweeping views of the glitzy Lustica Bay Marina, the Almara Beach Club is currently one of the trendiest spots in Montenegro and undoubtedly one of the best beach clubs in Montenegro.
Beautiful young people luxuriate in cool cabanas and pose in trendy swimsuits, occasionally going down to the wooden pier for a picture or a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear Adriatic Sea. The atmosphere is smooth and seafood platters and dragon rolls are served under thatched roofs and whitewashed terraces but the festive mood picks up in the evenings and on weekends.
Montenegro’s Top Beach Clubs
Here is our list of the most stylish beach clubs in Montenegro for the upcoming season. Long, lost afternoons are expected in one of the breezy oceanside refuges.
The restaurant area is a shaded retreat with raffia and wicker lamps hanging from the ceiling and other boho-chic inspired decor adding to its legere beach club appeal. Piles of navy blue colored cushions invite you to stay seated and watch the action from the commanding patio space.
Les mesdames find pleasure in getting pictures of them taken in front of the fluffy angel wings or beside the quirky flamingos. Others prefer to observe the happening from under their extralarge, ivory-hued umbrellas on the wooden outdoor deck which is another good vantage point at the end of the bar.
Beach towels are complimentary if you pay for sunbeds and parasols, and it’s always nice to wrap yourself up in a comforting towel after a swim or splash. Down at Almara Beach, tiny grey pebbles blend seamlessly with the sandy shore, and the entry into the water can only be described as gentle.
This adult-only beach club is pet-friendly and is ideal for everyone looking to experience Montenegro in a more conscious way. The service is laid-back, sometimes too relaxed indeed, but that should be pardonable considering its almost tropical tunes.
You’ll want to empty your schedule then to make enough time for an afternoon and evening here, nursing gin-laced Negronis and Mules, while house tunes throb gently in the background. For an even better experience, you can order drinks and snacks straight to your sunbed.
The varied menu satisfies even the most demanding palates: pasta a la vongole, seared ahi tuna in a coat of toasted sesame, and the intriguing lobster pasta are the perfect food to recharge your energy levels. Visit on a Thursday and enjoy the absolutely stunning black seafood paella (filled with a potpourri of squids, prawns, mussels, and other seafood), needless to say, it pairs incredibly well with a local Malvazija or Chardonnay white wine.
The Lustica Peninsula
Charming stone cottages, centuries-old churches, and lush olive orchards make up the coastal landscape of the beautiful Lustica Peninsula.
Of course, the pristine seaside setting only adds to its allure. Eventually, the day fades into exultant Mediterranean summer magic, with sailing yachts bobbing in the gentle waves of Traste Bay. The night temperatures in September are still warm enough for livin’ da vida loca without too many clothes on.
With first-row sunbeds priced at 30€ the pair (umbrella included) and cabanas up to 200€, and main courses in the barefoot-chic restaurant in the 25€ range, it’s certainly not cheap. Still, you’re buying a prime spot of Montenegrin oceanfront pleasure. The beach club for this reason comes with spotless toilets, dressing rooms, and relaxing freshwater showers.
Water taxis run from here to the Lustica Bay Marina and are free for Chedi Lustica Bay Hotel guests. For everyone else, there is an unpaid, parking lot backing the Almara Beach Club. It is easily accessible from Kotor and Tivat along the E-65 Adriatic Highway and then following the road signs to Lustica Bay.
