Named after the fortress with the same name, Arza Beach is a public beach between Miriste Beach and the Blue Cave on the Lustica Peninsula. The views from here across the Bay of Kotor – with sailboats and yachts bobbing nearby – are dreamlike.
You can arrive here either by boat from Herceg Novi or Rose, or by car (pausing along the way to admire the rolling hills of the peninsula). Mamula Island is located just a few hundred meters off the coast, about halfway between Lustica and the Croatian borderlands.
If you are a solid swimmer, you can circumnavigate the tiny island which is just 200 meters away from Arza Beach. It is home to an active and inhabited 16th-century monastery – incredible considering the small size.
And this inherent remoteness is what makes Arza Beach so special. It is one of the few beaches that are still wild and have not yet been discovered by the masses. The beach itself is made up of rather large pebbles and also stones, requiring water shoes for most visitors.
Due to its remote location and rocky ground, the water appears crystal-clear and almost translucent here. It is also extremely clean on most days. In short, it’s a paradise for snorkeling, swimming, and all other forms of water sports. Just avoid stepping on a sea urchin – there are many of them.
Being a wild beach, there are no beach facilities to be found anywhere close to the beach: no changing cabins, toilets, or showers. The closest shop and restaurant are about 15 minutes away. Free parking is available onsite but the capacity is limited.
