Sometimes fresh mountain water comes right out of the tap, especially if you happen to be in a remote mountain region of Montenegro. You should be careful here because unchlorinated water can contain bacteria and other microorganisms.

Some households along Montenegro’s coast are not connected to the public water supply systems and thus rely on freshwater tanks for their daily water needs. It is not recommended to drink water from these water tanks.

Info: During heavy rainfalls, tap water across many places in Montenegro can become unsafe for human consumption. Should this be the case, you will hear about it in the local news and media.

Info: After heavy rainfalls, especially during the winter months, the tap water can change color and become undrinkable.
