ToggleThe Maestral Hotel looks like a gentle merger between classic 80s Mediterranean architecture and fashionable contemporary design, anyway with a serious dedication to comfort – and it’s parked at the edge of Milocer Park, a 32-hectare estate formerly used by the Yugoslav Royal Family.
The crimson-red facade is designed to create immediate intrigue. Przno is not the first place you’d expect to find such a conspicuously-modern resort. Przno, first and foremost, is renowned for having the look and feel of a Montenegrin fishing village with its lovely stone cottages housing seafood restaurants.
Set in a quaint little bay and surrounded only by mountains and the deep blue Adriatic, it’s probably the most picturesque resort town on a coastline that’s generously powdered with picturesque settlements, from picture-perfect fishing hamlets to breathtakingly beautiful Venetian coastal towns.
The Maestral Resort & Casino creates a visual connection with the activity outside on Przno Beach, half of which is exclusively reserved for hotel guests. From the awe-inspiring hotel lobby, stairs lead down to the triangularly-shaped outdoor pool and further down to the pink-colored pebble beach.
Of course, you could just as effortlessly sunbathe from the privacy of your hotel room. Almost all of the residences come with a panoramic sea view and spacious terraces, and even indoors, they are drowned in natural sunlight. The rooms and suites feel both modern and in concord with the charming surroundings.
The unconventional yet contemporary signage that embellishes the facade is designed to give a striking brandmark to the hotel. The warm exterior lighting establishes the Maestral’s presence in the neighborhood and makes it immediately recognizable from the coastal road.
Over and above, the Maestral Hotel is renowned for being home to one of the region’s most famous casinos which bears the same name. On over 1,000m2 of floor space, the casino welcomes stakers and high and high rollers of all kinds to place their – hopefully winning – bets.
You can choose from a wide assortment of live tables, from roulette, blackjack, Baccarat, and various poker games. Serious and professional players will appreciate the Maestral Casino tournaments and the VIP room – a private and safe recluse for high-stake games!
Slot machine devotees will be thrilled about the 100 or so slot machines of the latest generation and besides that featuring an ultra-modern electronic roulette with 10 player positions. The entrance to the casino is free.
Opening Hours: 2 pm – 4 am (Sunday to Thursday), until 6 am on weekends
The rooms and suites in the Maestral are highly polished but also elegant, in soft colors against white backdrops and hardwood elements and flooring. Most of them look out to the azure-colored Adriatic Sea from private balconies.
If you visit alone or with a partner, you should consider the Premium Sea View room category. These rooms extend over a spacious 25 square meters and are spacious enough for most people, featuring an incredibly comfortable king-sized bed and all amenities you’d expect in a 5-star luxury hotel.
You can also book this room without a sea view but we think that would be a shame, considering the astonishing views of the Przno village and Budva you will miss. Luckily, you are only paying 15% more for a room with a sea view.
Room Rates: starting from 198€ per night
Superior rooms are not as luxurious as Maestral Suites but a little more spacious than the Superior Rooms. They can comfortably host two adults, with the optional extra bed to house one more person on request and at extra cost.
Design-wise, it is as clean and contemporary as it gets with smooth earthy hues contrasting against a white backdrop. But you will spend most of your time on the magnificent terrace anyway, won’t you?
Room Rates: starting from 242€ per night
While there are also suites without ocean views in the Maestral, we think it is mandatory to book a suite overlooking the mesmerizing Adriatic Sea. These residences come with sufficient space (47m2) – about double the size of a Premium Room and more than conveniently house a couple on a staycation.
The price per night: from 600€
At the same time that the outdoor pool leaves little to be desired – where else can you float atop the Adriatic coastline in total serenity – there’s also the heated indoor pool that opens up to the Maestral’s sumptuous Spa and Wellness Center.
The Spa is fitted out with all sorts of gizmos — jacuzzis, Finnish & Roman saunas, ice fall, pleasure showers — and surrounded by an enormous terrace with comfortable loungers and swinging lounge chairs. Here you can finally recharge and reclaim your energy.
If you are feeling stiff, you can release emotional bodily tension with one of the endless health and beauty treatments, including signature Thai Massages. The Spa Center is an impressive space, one of the better ones you will encounter on your travels.
The four restaurants serve everything from fine Chinese fare at Jade to the Orient-inspired menu at Lebanese Night. The Maestral Club Restaurant comes with mouth-watering and innovative Mediterranean dishes whereas the hotel’s main restaurant Terazza offers a buffet-style dining experience.
The eateries extend over roomy outdoor terraces above the beach and pool area, striking just the right balance between refined and laid-back. Additional diners include the Barka Beach Restaurant & Bar which serves classic Adriatic fare but also street food-inspired comfort food.
And while the restaurants are voguish and up to date, the same goes for the bars which are chic and the perfect spot for socializing before or after dinner. They serve excellent cocktails and light seafood-centric snacks, making it unchallenging to leave.
When the time is ripe to explore the area, there’s no shortage of activities – olive oil and wine tasting, hiking and biking, paragliding, and of course exploring the nearby towns and beaches. Budva even has a surprisingly active local arts scene, with summer festivals, art exhibitions, and open-air concerts and theater.
The hotel itself features a professional-grade tennis and basketball court where you can measure your skill and fitness level against your partner or other competitors. In cooperation with Pro Diving Montenegro, the Maestral offers diving experiences, from beginner to professional levels of training.
Przno is approximately 45 minutes by car from Tivat Airport (TIV) and 2 hours from Dubrovnik Airport (DBV). Buses also run along the Adriatic Highway but are not the most convenient mode of transport.
