Milocer Beach: The King’s Summer Residence

It’s fair to say that the aristocratic Milocer Beach, situated on a 32-hectare former royal estate, is not for everyone. Not because some visitors may not like its appeal but because it has always been a very unique beach in Montenegro’s coastal landscape.

Milocer Beach

The former King of Yugoslavia Aleksandar I who ruled over the lands of Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, and Montenegro had a lot of beautiful spots along the Adriatic coastline to choose from. He could have chosen a beach near Dubrovnik or Split. Instead, he fell in love with Milocer Beach.

The royal summer residence was completed in 1936, two years after his assassination in Marseille. So, he unfortunately never came to enjoy his pristine piece of coastal real estate. His wife Maria made it her summer residence instead and spend whole summers here with her children.

The adjacent beach – Queen’s Beach – is named after her. Today, these two beaches along with the island resort of Sveti Stefan and the King’s summer residence are managed by Aman Sveti Stefan, an ultra-luxury resort management company.

Sveti Stefan Beach

Non-guests can make it to the beach. A set of sun loungers with parasols will set you back 200€. This is what we meant by saying that this beach was not for everyone. Luxury and privacy come at a price.

Be it as it may, the sunbeds are spread out extra spaciously. There are no more than 15 sets fanned out over the entire beach. Pure hedonism. The service you will receive from the Aman staff – as you might expect – is nothing short of spectacular: they will make you feel like royalty, even if it’s just one day.

Milocer Beach Sveti Stefan

Considering its unparalleled setting, overlooking one of Montenegro’s most iconic landmarks, the 15th-century island fortress of Sveti Stefan, and the impressive beauty of the idyllic surroundings, it is well worth the money

Milocer Beach lies in a quaint and secluded bay and is made up of fine pink-colored pebbles that are of ideal texture and composition, not sticking to your feet while not hurting either. The crystal-clear water is almost always calm and warmer than elsewhere. It’s an honor to swim and snorkel here.

It goes without saying that there is no noise pollution in and around the waters of Milocer Beach. No screaming, no yelling, no phones. Nothing but utter silence and a zen-like atmosphere, ideal for meditating, relaxing, and recharging. Your natural outdoor Spa area so-to-speak.
