Mogren 2 Beach Guide

Mogren 2 Beach

Part of the larger Mogren Beach, a stretch of golden pebbles located beside the vibrant resort of Budva, at 150 meters long, it is a little shorter yet more exclusive than its similarly picturesque neighbor. An area of pine trees and Mediterranean shrubs at its back provides plenty of welcoming shade during the day.

It has good facilities, especially now after having received a thorough makeover, including (ultra-comfortable) sun lounger and parasol hire, showers, toilets, and a refined on-site restaurant. There is a free, public beach section but, being so close to Budva, it should surprise no one that it gets crowded quickly, so it is advisable to arrive earlier and snatch a set of sunbeds, for the utmost Mediterranean beach experience.

Mogren Beach

Overhanging cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and golden pebbles compose the scenery on Mogren Beach. Its proximity to the old town makes it popular with tourists.

Mogren II is popular for its fine pebbles and its scenic natural setting, below towering golden sandstone cliffs that allow mid-afternoon shade – something to consider if tanning is your main goal. The picturesque cliffs also naturally separate the beach from Mogren I, but there is an arched passage between them for relatively easy access.

Undoubtedly, one of its main selling points is its crystal-clear waters and beautiful surroundings: beachgoers can look out onto Budva’s Old Town and Sveti Nikola Island while being sheltered from big waves and wind by the overhanging rock faces. For many, Mogren II Beach is one of the best beaches in Montenegro

A photographic refuge off the coast from Budva, Sveti Nikola Island is accessible by water taxi from Slovenska Beach and Budva’s marina.

Safety and Access

Mogren Beach Ballet Dancer

Mogren II Beach is accessed via a short and scenic seaside trail that is also home to the iconic bronze sculpture of a female ballet dancer – the unofficial symbol of Budva. Along the way, you’ll find some bars, beachfront restaurants, small souvenir shops, and locals selling art. A lifeguard is on duty from May through October and safe swim zones are sectioned off with buoys. Unfortunately, this is not a beach that is accessible to wheelchair users and persons with reduced mobility.

Arriving by car coming from other coastal towns is possible, taking the turn at the main traffic light from the Adriatic Highway, and then parking as close as possible to the old town – it’s a 10-to-15-minute walk from there. Alternatively, park above the cliffs at Fort Mogren, and follow the steep, forested trail until you reach the beach. Some local buses stop at Mediteranska Street, which is relatively close as well.

Things to do

Mogren Beach 3

There are nearly endless fun things to do on and around Mogren II Beach, including luxuriating in the sun, swimming and snorkeling in the gin-clear waters, jet skiing, renting a stand-up paddleboard, and trying parasailing. Taking a diving class or expedition to one of the interesting sites around Mogren or Sveti Nikola Island is also popular with visitors.

Most of the activities can be organized at the Jedro watersports center right along the seaside walkway. Visit the small shops in the old town and enjoy a coffee or refreshing cocktail at one of Budva’s cozy bars. For boat rentals and water taxi transfers to nearby coves and Sveti Nikola Island, head to the marina in Budva. In short: Mogren II Beach is designed for those hedonists looking for the quintessential seaside retreat.

Mogren Beach Restaurant

You don’t even need to leave the beach to savor some of Montenegro’s tasty maritime flavors. The on-site restaurant offers a picture-perfect setting and a menu filled with typical Adriatic fare such as Black Risotto, grilled fish & seafood, and mussels a la buzzara, among other vegan and kid-friendly options.

There is certainly no shortage of restaurants in Budva either, for instance along the Riva, its charming seaside promenade. Restaurant Rivijera’s laid-back garden terrace, situated in the heart of the old town, is a great spot for a lunch break away from the scorching summer heat. Admire the glistening Adriatic with a glass of Vranac Wine and a delicious local dish at Restaurant Porto, next to the small harbor.

Pastabar beside the northern entrance to the old town, has a spacious, decked al-fresco terrace and specializes in fresh, homemade pasta, gnocchi, and bruschetta. Juicy burgers and steaks are some of the specialties served up at Piano Nobile, a small tavern-style eatery tucked away in a quiet corner of the walled town.
