ToggleNjivice Beach
Njivice Beach is one of those beaches that seems almost impossible to find. Coming from Herceg Novi and Igalo, you need to follow the Adriatic Highway towards the border crossing from Montenegro to Croatia and then turn left at the Novi Shopping Mall. Njivice Beach is only 300 meters away from the border.
And to avoid confusion, we should make clear that Njivice is made up of two distinct beaches: the first one is only accessible to the public and the other is a private beach operated by the Iberostar Herceg Novi. The public beach is a series of loosely connected smaller beach sections, alternating between gravel and concrete patches.
Njivice Beach is backed by dozens of vacation homes, palms, and other lush Mediterranean vegetation. Onsite, there is very basic beach infrastructure in the form of one cafe, serving simple snacks and hot and cold beverages. Sun loungers and parasols are available for hire for 12€ the pair.
The road leading up to the village of Njivice is very narrow and uphill, and what’s worse, there is absolutely nowhere to park in the vicinity of the beach. That might be one of the reasons why the water is superbly clean and crystal-clear here, better than on most Herceg Novi beaches.
Due to its geographical position, however, the sun sets early on Njivice, in late summer months already at 4:30 pm. But what is probably the beach’s most notable feature besides the water quality is the breathtaking view of the Bay of Kotor – you get the same view as the nearby hotel guests.
How to get there
It is a pity that there is no coastal promenade connecting Njivice with adjacent Igalo and Herceg Novi. For this, it is probably best to come by taxi because finding a free parking space, especially will almost be impossible. Public transport is not an option either.
