Verige 65
Montenegro’s Adriatic coast always had it easy to attract nature enthusiasts or seafaring delinquents. It is appealing for many reasons: here, the lavishly rugged Dinaric Alps peter themselves out like nowhere else.
Zoom in a bit to the Bay of Kotor, cutting out Montenegro’s prime stretch of real estate, and you’ll find the bay’s narrowest passage – the stunning Verige Strait, just off the coast of the equally stunning coastal towns of Perast and Risan.
Right on the tip of that strait, relaxing in the soft Adriatic breeze sits an eye-shaped contemporary glass edifice with breathtaking views of the UNESCO-listed Bay of Kotor and Verige Beach. Welcome to Verige 65.
Perast
A charming coastal with a centuries-old tradition, Perast should be on everyone’s bucket list. Expect beautiful Baroque architecture and breathtaking bay views.
The Bay of Kotor
If there is one thing you absolutely need to see, then it’s the stunning Bay of Kotor, connecting Montenegro’s most picturesque coastal towns like Perast and Kotor.
Sit either outside or indoors and you will feel connected to the nature around you – the floor-to-ceiling glass windows make the transition seamless. From your dining table, you have probably reserved the spot to observe passing cruise ships on their way to neighboring Kotor.
But probably you do not have sightseeing in mind but are rather interested in the culinary offerings of this interesting restaurant. The Verige’s fusion cuisine skilfully and elegantly combines Mediterranean dishes with specialties from eastern Asia and the Middle East.
The gourmet chefs pay heedful attention to meal presentation ensuring that the dishes served here match or even outdo the unique and memorable setting. Leaving nothing to chance, the professional service staff is extraordinarily attentive, plus the wine list is one of the best in Montenegro.
Start with ‘prawn tacos’, before moving on to an assortment of sushi or tuna steak with creamy mashed cauliflower, a glass of Malvazija completes the picture. Meat dishes are popular as well, especially the tender cuts of beef. Vegan options are available like the savory Vegan Burger.
Add one of the contrastingly delicate desserts – the tiramisu you have to try – and if you are really lucky, you will get a taste of the delicious warm date cake. It is the perfect dinner-by-the-bay venue. P.S. They also have caramel and hazelnut latte.
Parking is readily available and even if you come by boat (up to 15 meters), you can tie it on one of the docks in front of the restaurant. Verige 65 is wheelchair accessible.
If you want to dine outside on the lovely outdoor terrace during peak season in July and August, you need to make a reservation – even on weekdays. Without a doubt, the Verige 65 – along with its mouth-watering creative meals and genuine team – is set to become one of your favorites in Montenegro!
