Becici Beach Guide

Becici Beach

Becici, one of Budva’s longest beaches, has not been on the radar of sunseekers since yesterday. Already in 1935, it was rewarded the Grand Prix Award in Paris for being the most beautiful beach in the whole of Europe. Quite a feat. But can it live up to its hype?

Today, the 1,950-meter-long stretch of sand finds itself against the backdrop of several large hotel complexes that each have their private beach sections, only accessible to hotel guests. Luckily, the gigantic mountains behind them make them rather unimposing.

Becici Beach Landscape

Becici Beach sits right between Kamenovo Beach and Budva, connected to its neighbors via a lovely coastal promenade. One could say that the claim of being Europe’s best beach is a little far-fetched. There are strands with finer sand and others in more secluded and less urban settings.

Be it as it may, Becici is your perfect all-rounder beach, perfect for your family vacation. Yes, it can become crowded in summer like everywhere else along Montenegro’s coast but due to its width, it’s less crowded than Mogren Beach for example.

It lies in a larger, protected bay that does get neither much wind nor waves. The water is usually warm and pleasantly clean. When it is perfectly calm, it almost feels like in a big swimming pool. But better because you can float freely on the surface of the rather salty water. This is also ideal for small children who are looking to learn how to swim.

On-site, you can find sunbeds and parasols for hire, from 10 – 30€ per set, depending on which row and which beach club. This is not excessive compared to other beaches in Montenegro. Each beach club comes with standard beach facilities: changing cabins, showers, and toilets.

Becici Beach Public Section

But there is also a large public section where you can just put your towels and beach equipment into the sand and enjoy yourself without paying for sunbeds. Being family-oriented, there is also lots of entertainment for children like arcade games and a rocking dinosaur.

You might also consider renting a jet ski or kayak and exploring the area by sea. The rentals are located in the middle section of the beach next to the floating pier. But if that is too much responsibility for you, why not have fun with some water toys? You will find them also close to the pier.

Becici Paragliding

If you want to try something new and exciting while vacationing in Montenegro, fly a paraglide if you‘ve never done it before. There are a couple of tour agencies in that area around Becici but we think Paragliding Montenegro is the best. One thing is for sure, you will remember the stunning views for a long time to come.

Info: There is a large parking lot just a couple of meters from the beach.

Hotels in Becici

When planning your beach holiday in Becici, you may go with one of the excellent new luxury waterfront hotels or stick to the classic ones which all have direct access to the lovely pebble beach. Or, enjoy your hard-earned vacation in a 5-star hotel with incredible Mediterranean views.

Hotel Splendid

Interestingly enough, the Splendid was Montenegro’s first 5-star hotel when it opened its doors to its first guests in 2006, the year Montenegro gained independence from Serbia. One could argue then that this very hotel kickstarted luxurious travel in Montenegro.

Hotel Splendid Montenegro

The Hotel Splendid is only 2 kilometers away from Budva and sits right at the seafront and includes its own private beach section. Besides featuring three restaurants and four bars, the Splendid comes with Montenegro’s largest Spa center.

One of its most notable features is the six swimming pools – three indoor and three outdoor pools. All residences in the hotel are incredibly spacious with even the standard room extending over 42m2.

Hotel Katamare

This brand new 4-star seafront hotel has a lot going for it. If you are the kind of person who is a bit picky when it comes to room design and cleanliness, you won’t find much to critique here. The tastefully decorated rooms are large enough and all come with a private balcony.

Iberostar Bellevue Becici

No doubt, the Spaniards know a thing or two about running and managing a hotel. If you are looking for a residence that offers a great price-to-value ratio, this is probably the one to go for. It’s not the newest hotel and does not have the fanciest rooms but everything else is great.
